Accelerate your disease reversal process

Accelerate your disease reversal process

When we talk about healing, we always bring up topics like Nutrition, supplements, gut health, vitamins etc...  But in this article, we will discuss the most important—and often overlooked—factor that can really help to accelerate your healing process, regardless of whether you are on medication or diet.

We are all aware that our body performs a variety of functions like pumping of blood, digestion, respiration, elimination of toxins, synthesis of hormones and enzymes, cells and tissue repair, controlling blood sugar,  blood pressure , protect us from infections and a lot more.  Different components of nervous system regulate each of these processes.

Here, we will be discussing about the Autonomic nervous system which controls the activities we do without thinking. Sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system are part of autonomic nervous system that helps to deal with stress. Whenever we are stressed our body releases stress hormones also known as cortisol which helps to react quickly to life threating situations and this response is controlled by sympathetic nervous system Some of the important functions of Cortisol are -

1.    Managing stress

2.    Increasing blood pressure and blood sugar

3.    Increasing heart rate

4.    Keeping you alert and awake

5.    Increasing energy level

When the threat passes, Parasympathetic nervous system is activated which helps to relax. Some of the important functions of parasympathetic nervous system are-

1.    Decreasing heart rate

2.    Stimulating gastric secretion which helps to improve digestion

3.    Increasing blood circulation which increases oxygenation and absorption of nutrients.

4.    Conserve energy for future use

But unfortunately these days most of us are highly stressed which keeps our sympathetic nervous system activated. Activated sympathetic nervous system leads to continuous secretion of cortisol that may lead to indigestion, deficiency of nutrients, Heart disease, Difficulty in sleeping, Weight gain, high blood pressure and high blood sugar.

One of the simplest and most efficient ways to stimulate your parasympathetic nervous system and relax your sympathetic nervous system is to breathe correctly.  You can activate your Parasympathetic nervous system and reduce stress by practicing breathing techniques on a daily basis. This can be done in 3 different ways-

1.    You can either sit or lie on bed to practice this.  Hold one hand on your chest and the other on your abdomen.  Shut your eyes and concentrate just on your breathing.  Just concentrate on your breathing; there's no need to alter your breathing.  How does it feel to breathe in oxygen and to exhale it out?

2.    Take deep breath - Just inhale and count 1-10 while inhaling and exhaling both.

3.    Inhale and count from 1 to 4, hold your breath while counting from 1 to 7, and then exhale while counting from 1 to 8.

Smart watches that can alert you to take deep breaths when your stress level rises are now accessible.  Even ten minutes of deep breathing can help relieve tension right away.

The parasympathetic nervous system can also be stimulated by massage.  Massages of the head, ears, neck, and feet may also help in promoting the parasympathetic nervous system.

Therefore, there are various methods that might help you trigger your parasympathetic nervous system and accelerates the healing process. However, in my opinion, breathing is the simplest and most efficient method that can be used anywhere, at any time.  For best results, perform these breathing exercises at least twice a day and develop the habit of taking deep breaths whenever you can.
