Dietician Priyanka's 5 Powerful Tips for Rapid Weight Loss on a Keto Diet | Bite And Diet

Keto diet is considered to be the most effective diet for weight loss. For individuals with Thyroid issues, PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) or Diabetes following a Keto Diet could not only assist in weight loss but might also eliminate the need for medicines.

So if you are also interested in adopting a Keto diet for rapid weight loss, it's important to follow these 5 tips.

1.     Eat only when you are hungry.

In keto diet, we can maintain our energy levels even with one or two meals a day. This is because fat provides us with more energy than carbs. 1g carbs provides only 4 calories whereas 1g fat provides 9 calories which is twice the amount of calories provided by carbohydrates .

So, in keto diet it is not necessary that you must eat breakfast  in morning  followed by lunch, evening snacks and dinner, as we typically do in a regular weight loss diet.

2.     Drink lemon water with salt

When we are following a keto diet, our body require more salt. You can take sugar-free electrolytes or lemon water with added salt two or three times a day to fulfill this requirement.

3.     Increase your fiber

Since we avoid whole grains and pulses in keto diet, our intake of fiber naturally decreases. Fiber maintains  good bacteria in gut and help to keep your intestine clean. Therefore, you must eat lots of cucumber or sautéed vegetables with every meal and throughout the day whenever you feel hungry. Sautéed vegetables can include mushrooms, spinach, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, green beans, zuchhini and capsicum.

4.     Read ingredient list

When following a keto diet, be sure to read the ingredients of any packaged food you eat, such as sausages, mayo, energy drinks, or any other food. No product, in any form, should contain sugar.

5.     You may need vitamins and mineral supplements

You might need to take different nutritional supplements because the keto diet is highly restrictive. You could have a serious deficiency if you donot take these supplements for long. Therefore, before beginning the keto diet, it is crucial to consult a dietician. She will provide you with well-informed guidance on whether the keto diet is right for you as well as the knowledge you need to follow a healthy keto diet.
