As grains and cereals compose 80% of our diet, a modification in flour is very important part of Nutrition therapy. Wheat has been a staple food of our diet since many years; a better option is multigrain flour. Multigrain flour has more protein, fiber, Calcium, B vitamins and minerals. Multigrain flour can be modified as per your requirement depending on your health target. 

Here I am sharing a multigrain flour recipe which has number of health benefits. This multigrain flour with help you in:

Ingredients used for making winter special multigrain flour includes Whole wheat, Barley, Ragi, Buckwheat, Fenugreek seeds Powder and Flaxseeds Powder.

Whole wheat flour - Most of use whole wheat flour to make roti. This flour has a protein called gluten which makes it sticky in nature. Hence using whole wheat flour as a base, you can add other flour to it to make your own winter special multigrain flour. Don't use wheat flour if you are allergic to gluten.



Barley flour - Barley is good source of Iron which helps in the formation of RBC (Red Blood Cells), Magnesium which plays and important role in energy production and Vitamin B6 which helps in the development of nerves and brain.



Barley has lowest glycemic index i.e.28 which makes it an ideal grain for diabetes and PCOS. Barley consumption is also associated with an increase in high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol, which reduces the risk of death due to heart disease or stroke.

Ragi or Finger millet– Among all the cereals Ragi is one of the richest source of calcium. It is also rich in fiber, antioxidants and other nutrients like Magnesium. Intake of these nutrients is associated with reducing blood sugar, cholesterol and triglycerides. 



Buckwheat – Buckwheat or kuttu ka atta is rich in iron and most of the B – Vitamins. Low energy or weakness may be a symptom of Vitamin B deficiency. Hence, intake of buckwheat is associated with increasing energy level. 



Fenugreek seeds powder – Fenugreek is a spice which is used for patients suffering from diabetes, PCOS, high cholesterol, obesity, body pain and many other conditions. It slows down the absorption of sugar and stimulates insulin secretion. Both of these effects are beneficial for people suffering with Diabetes and PCOS. It is rich in dietary fiber which helps in regulating blood pressure and blood cholesterol both.



Flaxseeds seeds powder - Flaxseed's health benefits come from the fact that it is rich in fiber and omega-3 fatty acids. Both of these nutrients are essential for reducing pain and inflammation. Omega-3 fatty acid also helps to remove LDL cholesterol or bad cholesterol from our body and improving brain function.



In order to make multigrain flour you need to combine Whole wheat, Barley, Ragi and Buckwheat flour in equal proportion. To make fenugreek and flaxseeds powder dry roast them, grind it and add it to the flour. Don’t add it in much quantity.
