Post-Festival Detox: A Comprehensive Diet Plan to Reset Your Body | Dietician Priyanka

Diwali is different from other festivals because we don't fast instead we feast.  All of us enjoy sweets and other favorite recipes on this big day, which is indispensable part of Diwali party. When we eat these food items, they releases free radicals also known as toxins which are very harmful for our cells and tissues. Indigestion, heartburn, bloating and heaviness are some of the common symptoms that you may experience after Diwali feast. So it is very important to neutralize these free radicals as soon as the festival is over. So, now its time for a detoxification.

Here I am sharing a post festival detox diet plan which will help you to feel lighter and energetic. This plan will also help you to reduce bloating and lose 1-2kg if you follow this plan for at least 2 days.

1.Drink warm lemon water - Start your day with warm water with few drops of lemon juice. Lemon juice helps to flush out toxins and unwanted food material present in digestive tract. After half an hour you can also drink 30-40ml amla juice also know as Indian goose berry which will boost up the detox process.

2. Take green juice - Green juice like dhania juice has diuretics properties which helps to reduce water retention and digestive discomfort like bloating and indigestion. You can add little rock salt for taste.

3. Eat two meal a day - It is better to have two meal a day instead of three large meals at 6 hour interval. This way you are giving sufficient time to your body to digest food, so that there is not undigested food items in your gut. Use whole cereals like barley, jowar, oats, bajra etc.. to make chapatis. You can have it with dal or cooked veggies of your choice. Chew your food properly and drink warm water after 30mins.

4. Eat fruits - Fruits contains digestive enzymes and helps to neutralize free radicals. So eat lots of fruits like guava, pear, pineapple, papaya, apple, oranges, keno in between meals.

5. Include probiotics - your detox process is incomplete without probiotics. Eating unhealthy diet increase bad bacteria in gut which causes unhealthy symptoms like gas, acidity or bloating. Eating probiotic rich food increase good bacteria in gut which helps to reverse the symptoms. Curd and apple cider vinegar is rich in probiotics. You can have curd or lassi  without salt in between meals.

Apart from this light exercise like stretching, breathing exercises and kapalbhati pranayama is also essential for detoxification. Don't forget to walk for  10-15 min of walk after meals.
